SUMMARY:

Manages the electrical and mechanical servicing and efficient maintenance of production machinery and equipment, physical plant, utilities and grounds in accordance with state and federal regulations and company policies and procedures.  Also responsible for plant safety programs.

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

The following duties and responsibilities are representative and may be expanded.

Primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Site safety – Ensure that high standards of safety are developed, met, and maintained at each facility.
  • Site Maintenance – Ensure that the facility and grounds are maintained in accordance with relevant regulations, agency standards, and fiscal considerations.
  1. Develop, implement and review regularly site-specific maintenance logs for each facility.
  2. Conduct quarterly maintenance inspections.  Provide a summary of recommendations and relevant programs to the Plant Manager.
  3. Evaluate long-term needs in relation to key projects and property improvements and develop a five-year plan outlining it in cooperation with relevant managers.
  4. Coordinate, arrange, and supervise or provide for the completion of corrective and preventative maintenance in accordance with operating procedures, practices, and financial consideration.  Completion of work may involve management of subordinates or contracted labor per bid.
  • Equipment maintenance – Ensure that major equipment and furnishings are maintained in safe, operable condition and/or arrange for replacement.
  1. Develop, implement, and review equipment records (including maintenance logs).
  2. Establish procedures and contacts to ensure timely repairs of equipment requiring minor repairs on a frequent basis.
  3. Secure major equipment bids and recommends purchase when replacement or new equipment is required.

 

  • Safety and Maintenance training – May arrange for or provide training for personnel as it relates to the safety and maintenance needs of the facility or specific equipment, i.e.: effective utilization of the maintenance logs, completion of routine maintenance specific to the facility, equipment operations, fire safety.  May attend training programs relevant to the duties and responsibilities of this position.
  • Participate in the development of policies and procedures related to maintenance and safety as an ad hoc member of the team.
  • Participate in annual budget preparation as it relates to the safety and maintenance of the facility, grounds, and equipment.
  • Perform special projects as assigned.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline, mechanical or electrical engineering preferred.

Work Experience and/or Skills

  • Five years of manufacturing maintenance experience in all phases of building maintenance.
  • Three years of proven supervisory/managerial experience utilizing a combination of technical, managerial and financial expertise.
  • Two years’ experience in estimating maintenance and repair costs.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations relative to plant operation and maintenance.
  • PC proficient using MS Office products.
  • Experience with a quality system (ISO experience preferred) and fiscal responsibilities.
  • Team focused.

  • Adhere to safe work practices, complete monthly safety audits/observations, follow GMP’s, maintain clean and safe conditions to ensure that product quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect product safety, product quality or personnel safety.
  • Effectively communicate the status of issues and projects with management, vendors, peers and production personnel.
  • Provide technical leadership and support to the electrical and instrumentation technicians at the facility.
  • Use the appropriate tools and mentor others, (e.g. dvm, multimeter, software, custom cables) to troubleshoot and diagnose the root cause of electrical issues in the facility.
  • Work with internal and external resources to resolve issues as quickly and effectively as possible.
  • Maintain PM Schedule

 

Technical

  • Create user manuals and training documentation; train electrical techs as appropriate.
  • Identify and facilitate process and automation improvements.
  • Identify necessary program changes and work with Corporate Controls to implement.
  • Assist and consult with management/engineering on projects as needed.
  • Provide leadership to the electrical techs.
  • Manage, backup and organize all automation related documentation for the facility (programs, schematics, network information, manuals, etc.)
